Arranging travel

Introverts don’t like to bother other people and they tend to enjoy researching, planning, and generally being in control of their travels. For the most part, that is perfectly appropriate. However, there are certain times when getting the help of a professional can be beneficial.

Here are some instances where the expertise of a travel advisor can be particularly beneficial. And the best part? In most cases, using a travel advisor is a free service.

  • The friendly skies have turned less friendly when it comes to travel advisors. Advisors may actually complicate things. If something goes wrong, they typically can’t offer much help and may just get in the way. You are better off booking your own flights.

  • If you are planning a simple getaway and using a hotel as a base of operations, and you are looking for a mid-range hotel (in the Hilton and of operation and Marriott categories). In that case, it is likely cheaper through the hotel's website,, so you are better off booking the stay. If you are looking for a luxury hotel, spa treatments, and fine dining and want to be pampered without needing to leave the property, then an advisor can get you some pretty good perks at better deals than you can get on your own.

  • Cruises can go either way. If you know which cruise line, where you want to go, and at what time, you may be better off booking on your own through the cruise website or an Online Travel Agency. However, if you have never been on a cruise or are unsure, a travel advisor can help you sort through the many options. Each cruise line has its own personality and an Advisor can help sort through them to find a good fit for you. Also, a travel advisor may be able to get you perks like On-Board Credit that you typically can’t get on your own.

  • Similar to cruises, if you know what you want, it may be better to book on your own. But an advisor may be the best way to go if you don’t want to wade through the multitude of options. Additionally, if want some decent perks or high-end resorts, then a Travel Advisor may be in your best interest.

  • Navigating the rail system can be especially difficult. Each country has unique booking methods, and the Amtrak system is very complicated. Unless you are a seasoned rail traveler, I highly recommend the expertise of a travel advisor to ensure a smooth journey, which can be daunting.

As a travel advisor, I can provide assistance with the overwhelming options and maybe some unique benefits when booking on your own.

Introvert extrordinaire

Our society expects us to be extroverted. From how kids are taught in schools to group projects at work to expecting a solution to a problem right away, others want us to be more outgoing. Even most entertainment is geared towards extroverts. While the world does need extroverts, it also needs people who will take a little time to think about the problem and come up with solutions thoughtfully and respectfully.

We see the world differently. We also recharge our batteries differently. Our batteries recharge when surrounded by a calm, quiet setting where we can interact with just a few select people or just a good book.

Traveling can be complicated, loud, and full of uncertainties. It doesn’t have to be.
